Bilateral anomalous suprascapular arteries

چکیده

This study reports origins of the suprascapular artery from the third part of the axillary artery, bilaterally. The arteries, situated far below the clavicle, ascended upwards between the lateral and posterior cords of brachial plexus. The arteries joined the suprascapular nerves medial to the inferior belly of the omohyoid. The left and right arteries measured around 8 centimeters each, up to the suprascapular notch. On both sides, the nerves and vessels passed beneath the transverse scapular ligament. Other arteries around the scapula were normal. These vascular anomalies are rare and bear important surgical implications.

Arterial Supply to the Rotator Cuff Muscles Suministro Arterial de los Músculos del Manguito Rotador

The arterial supply to the rotator cuff muscles is generally provided by the subscapular, circumflex scapular, posterior circumflex humeral and suprascapular arteries. This study involved the bilateral dissection of the scapulohumeral region of 31 adult and 19 fetal cadaveric specimens. The subscapularis muscle was supplied by the subscapular, suprascapular and circumflex scapular arteries. The...

The rare origin of the suprascapular artery arising off the internal thoracic artery in the presence of the thyrocervical trunk : clinical and surgical implications

Anatomical textbooks usually cite the thyrocervical trunk, which arises from the first part of the subclavian artery, as the most common origin of the suprascapular artery [1, 2]. Variations concerning the origin of the suprascapular artery are rare but have been documented arising from all three parts of the subclavian artery, the costocervical trunk, the axillary artery, and the internal thor...

Comment on “Bilateral Anomalous Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery-Anterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Anastomotic Arteries Associate with a Ruptured Cerebral Aneurysm”

We previously reported an unusual case of bilateral posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA)-anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) anastomosis associate with a ruptured aneurysm. Moreover, also this case had segmental absence of both distal vertebral arteries (VA). During the 7 to 12 mm embryonic stage, the basilar artery is formed by fusion of the longitudinal neural arteries. The VAs ...

Simultaneous resection of bilateral anomalous systemic supply to the basal segments of the lungs: a case report

BACKGROUND Anomalous systemic arterial supply to the normal basal lung segments is a sequestration spectrum variant (Pryce type 1) that is distinguished from pulmonary sequestration by normal bronchopulmonary and parenchymal tissues. CASE PRESENTATION A 33-year-old Japanese man was referred to our hospital because of an abnormal pulmonary shadow. Computed tomography showed two aberrant arteri...

Bilateral arch origin of the vertebral arteries.

A case of bilateral anomalous origins of the vertebral arteries (VAs) is reported. Both VAs arose directly from the aortic arch between the left common carotid artery and the left subclavian artery. The possible embryologic mechanism and clinical importance of this previously unreported variant are reviewed.
